Cheltenham Rotaract's Three Peaks Challenge
Five members of Cheltenham Rotaract successfully completed a Three Peaks Challenge in 21 hours 54 minutes 26 seconds after six months training.
Starting at 1800hrs, Thursday 29 June 2000, five
members of Cheltenham Rotaract undertook the challenge of their
lives. The task was to walk up and down, and travel between, the
three highest peaks in mainland UK - BEN NEVIS, SCAFELL PIKE and
SNOWDON in less than 24 hours. The team of Juliet Smith, Andrew
Yendole, Tom Carver, Sarah Stevens (Club President) and James
Black (incoming Club President) completed the challenge in a time
that even they didn't expect. The team was ably supported by two
Rotarians from Cheltenham North Rotary Club who acted as the
team's drivers, and expressed the walkers between the peaks.

The Club is grateful for the sponsorship of Westbury Homes which funded all the petrol costs involved in the Challenge. The proceeds of £2500 from this fundraising challenge are to
be donated to the National Meningitis Trust and the Club's 2000
charity, Salter's Hill.
